Tuesday Discussion Club

On Tuesday Nov, 24 2009 at 16:30 American Corner hosted an audience of 10 students from Russian - Tajik Slavic University to discuss about Thanksgiving Day in the USA. Also we hosted our speakers; Bethany Gustafson-English Language Fellow and Corey Parker, another quest from Ohio Steffen Merten-an American teacher and researcher living in Kazakhstan, and now he is in Dushanbe and he would like to start a research project on Tajik culture and he accepts our invitation to take part in our discussion.
Bethany has distributed all about the history of Thanksgiving Day. Students got much information about this wonderful holiday, they knew about celebrating, about traditional meals; At this holiday Americans usually eat turkey, potatoes, stuffing (small pieces of bread cooked with onions, broth and spices), cranberries, pumpkin pie and more. Some families pray together and thank God for their blessings.

Result: Thanks for such meetings all visitors of American Corner can learn many interesting things about the history of celebrating Thanksgiving Day.

Quotation by Firuza Nazarshoeva: "Now, I know how to prepare turkey for holidays, I think I can rightly use the recipe of cooking!"
